The location of The Brompton Bar and Grill at 243 Brompton Road is a historic restaurant site that has moved with the times over the last 60 years. Post 1945, it was The Brompton Grill, one of those great Cypriot/Greek restaurants, with booths for the discreet meetings of famous politicians and their mistresses; and with spectacular flamb dishes (steak diane and crepes suzettes) off a trolley.
In 1980 it became Brasserie St Quentin, one of the first brasseries in London. It was created by Francois O’Neill’s father Hugh O’Neill and his cousin, Quentin Crewe, the renowned restaurant critic. Under the celebrated French chef, Charles Plumex, and maitre'd, Didier Garnier, it gained an international reputation for its menus and ambiance. After 28 years Brasserie St Quentin is now the location of the award winning Brompton Bar and Grill.
The Brompton Bar and Grill is Knightsbridge’s local bistro. A zinc topped bar dispenses a range of refreshing cocktails and a long list of excellent value wines from £10 a bottle. Our seasonal menu from acclaimed chef Gary Durrant features mouth-watering starters and simple salads from £4.00, the signature fish stew (£14.00) and simply grilled meat from burgers to ribeye and veal. We are keen on the changing seasons and always promote seasonal food when we can.
There is an eclectic collection of cartoon and modern art. The music is unobtrusive with soothing jazz and 60s medleys. The downstairs bar is an ideal place to meet a friend and a frequent evening venue for live music. The Brompton Bar and Grill is the brainchild of Francois O’Neill, himself a chef, and together with General Manager Erwan Goubin they lead an experienced front of house team.
At Brompton Bar and Grill Francois has created a relaxed place to meet, eat, and drink, only a few hundred yards from the South Kensington museums and the Knightsbridge shops. It is for this reason that Brompton Bar and Grill was awarded ‘It Room Restaurant 2010 at the recent Tatler Magazine Restaurant Awards.
